Corrections come first
If something in a guide is wrong or has gone out of date, that is the message we most want to receive. Shanghai changes fast — entry rules, ticket prices, metro exits, opening hours, whether a payment app will accept a foreign card this month. A reader who has just been standing at the ticket window knows something we do not.
It helps enormously if you can include:
- The page you were reading, or its address
- What it currently says, and what you found instead
- Roughly when you were there
We check corrections against a primary source before changing anything, so we may take a few days. We do not publish reader names or messages.
What else we can help with
- Questions about a guide — if something we wrote was unclear, tell us and we will usually fix the guide rather than just answer you privately.
- Press and media — quotation, syndication, or requests to reference our research.
- Business enquiries — advertising questions and content licensing.
- Privacy and data requests — access, correction or deletion under GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA. See the privacy policy for what we hold, which is very little.
What we cannot do
We are a small editorial team, not a travel agency. We do not book hotels, flights, tours or tickets, we cannot make reservations on your behalf, and we cannot advise on an individual visa application — for that, the National Immigration Administration and your nearest Chinese embassy or consulate are the only authorities whose answer counts.
We also do not accept guest posts, sponsored articles, link insertions or paid placements of any kind. Requests of that sort will not receive a reply. Our about page explains why.
